Reproduction Services

  • Breeding Soundness Exams and Consultations
  • Brucellosis Testing - All breeding animals should be tested prior to being used for breeding.
  • Breeding Timing - including vaginal cytology, progesterone testing and LH testing.
  • Vaginal Artificial Insemination - The bitch will stand on an incline and semen is deposited from a syringe through a plastic rod.  This method is best used when the breeding pair are reproductively sound but a natural breeding is not possible or not desirable.  A major advantage is that it allows the clinician to evaluate the semen prior to use.
  • Surgical Artificial Insemination - This procedure offers the greatest chance of conception but is the most invasive.  It does allow the clinician to examine the uterus for cysts, occlusions and adhesions that are often present with a bitch that has been unable to conceive.  A short acting anesthetic is administered and the bitch is intubated and maintained on a gas anesthetic.  A 2-3 inch incision is made and the uterus is isolated.  Semen is injected into the uterus with a hypodermic needle and no incision is actually made in the uterus.  The muscle and skin is sutured back up and the bitch is sent home soon after sugery.  Surgical insemination is important when using frozen semen.
  • COMING SOON!!! Transcervical Inseminations - Using an endoscope tube to visualize the cervical opening the clinician is able to deposit semen past the cervix and into the uterus.  This procedure requires little to no sedation.
  • Ultrasound Pregnancy Coformation - As soon as 21-28 days from breeding we can confirm pregnancy.
  • Pregnancy Radiographs - Can accurately estimate number of puppies coming in the last week of pregnancy.
